This scholarship program is for graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, selected by Julie Schemann, Maurin Dietrich and Andrea Lissoni. Unsolicited applications are not accepted. The scholarship is by invitation only.

To make a preliminary selection, Professors of the Academy of Fine Arts are contacted and invited to make recommendations and put forward the names of some of their own students. During the diploma exhibition, the artists are met and invited to take part in the scholarship.
PS61 offers this one-year scholarship for graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, during which they will stay and work in the city. Each year up to 5 scholars are given the opportunity to work at PS61 in Prinzregentenstrasse.

There is not much affordable space for young artists in the city of Munich, and the space at the municipal studio buildings is very limited. Thanks to this opportunity, these artists do not have to leave the city after graduating but have the chance to gain a foothold and work in Munich and continue to enrich our art and cultural landscape and establish new networks.

By providing such workspaces free of charge, the artists can concentrate on their work and are given a space and time to create new bodies of work. The location also encourages artists to work together on communal productions and enables valuable exchange.
